Meta stock resistance is in focus after shares rose about 1.3% and reached their highest level since July 15. Buyers have followed through on a break above a downward-sloping hourly trendline, but the advance is now testing a major zone between $685.16 and $690.24.

The breakout setup

Meta’s hourly chart shows a break above a downward-sloping trendline, followed by additional buying. A broken trendline can become support, but its significance depends on whether price can hold above it during a pullback. The current rally is therefore constructive, but it is not yet a confirmed longer-term breakout.

The resistance zone has a long history of price reactions. Repeated highs and lows between $685.16 and $690.24 mean both buyers and sellers are likely to become more active in this area.

Key Meta stock resistance and support levels

Level Role Technical implication
$685.16-$690.24 Swing resistance zone Repeated historical reactions
$690.38 61.8% retracement Confluence just above the zone
Near $664 Broken trendline support First downside reference if momentum fades
$657.90 50% retracement Next support if sellers deepen the pullback
Meta breakout and retracement support levels
Breakout confirmation depends on resistance and support holding

What buyers need to do

Buyers need to clear the full resistance area and remain above $690.38. A sustained move through that level would clear the repeated swing area, break the retracement barrier and give the bullish side more control. A brief move above resistance followed by a close back below would provide weaker confirmation.

The quality of the breakout also matters. Stronger evidence would include follow-through buying, a successful retest and broader participation. Without those features, the market may simply be rotating around a well-known technical zone.

What would give sellers control

If Meta cannot break through $685.16-$690.38, sellers remain in play. A close back below the broken trendline near $664 would weaken the bullish momentum and raise the risk of a move toward the $657.90 50% retracement.

That scenario would not automatically end the broader uptrend. It would instead show that the latest breakout attempt failed and that buyers need to rebuild momentum from a lower support area.
