S&P 500 and Nasdaq rebound after the major U.S. indices defended important technical support, but the recovery remains incomplete. Buyers have stabilized the floor, yet nearby moving averages and resistance zones still need to be reclaimed before the bullish bias strengthens.
S&P 500 support and resistance
The S&P 500 tested a swing area between 7,573.60 and 7,617.37. That zone had previously acted as a ceiling before becoming a floor. Buyers repeatedly defended it on pullbacks, and the 50% retracement at 7,564.73 sits just below the support cluster.
The next hurdle is 7,617.37. A move above and stay above that level would improve the bullish bias and shift attention toward the 100-hour moving average at 7,667.37 and the 200-hour moving average at 7,695.83. Until then, the range remains a neutral battle zone.
Nasdaq Composite levels
The Nasdaq Composite held its rising 100-day moving average at 26,013.38, with additional swing support near 25,910.82. The rebound keeps buyers in play, but the index now faces hourly moving-average resistance at 26,293.66 and 26,360.52.
Both levels stopped the prior rebound. Buyers must reclaim and hold above them to increase the bullish bias. A move below 26,013.38 would shift the focus toward 25,910.82 and weaken the recovery setup.

Nasdaq 100 remains below its 100-day average
The Nasdaq 100 held a swing-support area between 28,822.67 and 28,953.26. The 50% retracement at 28,969.11 also sits in that region, adding to the support cluster. However, the index remains below its 100-day moving average at 29,212.12.
| Index | Support | Confirmation resistance |
|---|---|---|
| S&P 500 | 7,573.60-7,564.73 | 7,617.37, then 7,667.37 |
| Nasdaq Composite | 26,013.38, then 25,910.82 | 26,293.66 and 26,360.52 |
| Nasdaq 100 | 28,822.67-28,953.26 | 29,212.12, then 29,315.73 |
For buyers to improve the Nasdaq 100 picture, they need to reclaim 29,212.12 and then work through the 100-hour moving average at 29,315.73 and the 200-hour average at 29,442.12. Sellers would need a break below 28,822.67 to restart downside momentum.
The technical roadmap
Holding support is only step one. It shows that buyers are willing to defend a level and provides a point where risk can be defined. A bounce alone does not prove that control has changed hands. The next confirmation comes when price reclaims resistance and stays above it.
That distinction matters because all three indices held support, yet each still faces a ceiling. The Nasdaq 100 has the most work to do because it remains under its 100-day average. Watch breadth, follow-through and whether breakouts hold on a retest rather than relying on one intraday move.
